Jefferson County Warning Cancelled

ACtivity over Jefferson County has morphed into a huge mass of rain and storms...none severe...

Part of a long line of storms now lined up across the state from Jackson County down to Marengo County...

Bibb County warning cancelled also...

The back edge of the precipitation is now through much of Walker...all of Fayette and most of Pickens County...


Northeast Alabama Warning Cancelled

Tornado warning for Chrokee and Calhoun County cancelled...

Tornado warning for St. Clair County cancelled...

Severe thunderstorm warning for Jefferson until 9 p.m...
Strong stroms from Graysville down to the southwest part of the county southwest of Bessemer...
These storms are accompanied by lots of lightning. '

Severe thunderstorm warnings for Hale County until 845 p.m. and Bibb County until 9 p.m.

Things are calming down...but a tornado watch remains in effect until the line passes for eastern Alabama...


Update

A line of strong to severe storms extends across Alabama tonight...the line extends from Walker County down to Tuscaloosa and then southwest along I-59...

Severe thunderstorm warnings...
Tuscaloosa County until 830 p.m.
Hale County until 815 p.m.
Sumter County until 8:45 p.m.

Tornado warning until 9 p.m. for St. Clair County...
Possible tornado indicated along Highway 411 near Moody...moving eastward along I-20 toward Eden, Cook Springs, Brompton, Chula Vista and Pell City...still evidence of rotation...

All clear for Jefferson County...but a strong storm will be moving out of Walker County across northern Jefferson County...only gusty winds...lightning and extremely heavy rains now though...

Tornado warning for southern Cherokee and northern Calhoun County...
Possible tornado east of Glencoe...heading toward Piedmont...

All clear for Etowah County...

Storm passing across southern Jefferson County does not appear to be severe but could intensify...

A strong line of storms extends from the Jefferson/Tuscaloosa County line southwestward into northern Hale...Greene and Sumter Counties...torrential rain and lightning indicated with these storms...could have gusty winds also...
Good news...the first tornado watch has expired...a tornado watch remains in effect for eastern Alabama until 11 p.m. CST.

Tornado warning for St. Clair County until 9 p.m.
Storm over eastern Jefferson County looks stronger again...
It is about to cross into St. Clair County. It is just north of Leeds.
It will pass near Moody and Branchville..

Tornado warning northern Calhoun, eastern Etowah, southern Cherokee...
This storm has weakened a bit...

Another strong storm is over the area from Bessemer to Lipscomb. It is moving east towad Hoover.


Heads up St. Clair County

Storm in eastern Jefferson County will move into St. Clair County shortly...

Will pass near Moody or Branchville...

Around Birmingham Race Course, Alton, Lovick...Queeenstown Road areas, just north of Leeds...residents should be in safe shelter...

Another dangerous storm is near Bessemer...will pass across southern Jefferson County...

Dangerous storm with history of tornadoes and funnel clouds passing across northeastern Birmingham metro...

No damage yet from Birmingham metro...

Tornado reported at Bessemer...that storms looks much more dangerous...will cross southern part of Jefferson County...

New tornado warning for southern Cherokee, Etowah and northern Calhoun County. Will pass 431 near Glencoe into northern Calhoun.

Walker, Fayette, Pickens and Tuscaloosa under severe thunderstorm warnings...

Storms are forming into line now...good sign.


Alabama Weather Update

JEFFERSON COUNTY...
Potentially tornadic storm passing through eastern Birmingham...residents of eastern Jefferson County should be in safe shelter now...

All clear for downtown and points northwest and north...

Second strong storm is about 5 miles west of Bessemer...moving east...will affect southern Jefferson County...

Tornado warning for Jefferson County until 8:15 p.m.

Stay off I-59/I-459 now...

ETOWAH COUNTY
Tornadic storm south of Gadsden...damage reported on Coosa River at Horton's Bend.




Birmingham Update

Tornadic storm is near the Birmingham Airport...

Track carries it near Woodlawn...East Lake...Roebuck...Huffman...I-459/59...Birmingham Race Course...Trussville...Clay...Grayson Valley...and Argo. Residents in all these areas should take cover NOW!


THREE DANGEROUS STORMS

Storm one is crossing the northern part of Birmingham Metro...funnel cloud in Fultondale...

Track will carry it over over I-65 near 41st street exit or Fultondale exit.
...should stay south of Gardendale...
...will cross AL-79 close to Tarrant, possibly as far north as Pinson...
...will cross AL-75 between Roebuck and Center Point...
...will move to very near Trussville...

Tornado could pass near Airport...should be in tornado plan now!

Jefferson State Junior College should be in tornado plan now!


Second tornado is near Steele...will pass near Southside and Rainbow City...should be south of Gadsden...it looks less intense...but can cycle back up...and must be taken seriously...

Be in safe shelter now from Gadsden south into northern St. Clair County...no one should be driving on I-59 now from Ashville to Gadsden...

A late damage report from Blount County.. trees blown down in Bount County at Oneonta and Cleveland from possible tornado...

TUSCALOOSA COUNTY STORM
Has weakened some...but some rotation still indicated west of North Johns...this storm will go across southern Jefferson County.
