Progress Report on Greater Birmingham--8:05 pm Report
August 22, 2006, 7:15 pm
Big storms now rumbling through the Birmingham Metro.
Looks like a huge electric light parade because of much lightning.
At 8:05, strongest storms were:
* Near where I-459 joins I-59/20 in SW Jefferson near McAdory High School and Bent Brook Golf Course.
* SE and East Jefferson County including Trussville area.
* Bill Murray reports 1.42 inches of rain as of 8:10 pm and still raining moderately. 0.87 of that fell in only 15 minutes. (He lives about a mile or so south of downtown Trussville.
* Lightning still far too dangerous for me to measure rain for NE Trussville. I have the old-fashioned type of rain gage. No digital.
* Little Miss Molly completely out of sight...as far under the bed as she can get.

I took a QuickTime movie with my digital camera, as I drove along I-59 in St. Clair County near Ashville yesterday afternoon (Aug 21, 2006). I played the movie back on my computer and was able to capture these pictures from the movie clip.
