A line of storms is pushing southeastward across Central Alabama. Let's take a tour...
Signiificant weather alert now for much of Central Alabama...
Talladega/Clay...storm that showed rotation and produced a funnel cloud in Talladega County is passing into Clay County. It will pass near Ashland and Lineville.
The rotation occurred at the leading edge of a gust front, or the tremendous outflow of air rishing out of a thunderstorm. These types of tornadoes are called "gustnadoes."
Calhoun/Cleburne..strong storms over much of Calhoun, moving into Cleburne County...strongest near Jacksonville...
Storng storms moving across Shelby and into Bibb County...but they have weakened some.

Pretty intense storm just southwest of Talladega, moving southeast. It will pass near or just south of Waldo and near Chandler Springs.
Take cover NOW Talladega County...
This thunderstorm complex has a history of producing wind damage, including tree and power line damage. Winds gusted to 55 mph at the Birmingham Airport as it passed.
A big tree was reported down on Camp Oliver Road in the Bessemer area.
Two reports of trees and power lines down in Ashville and Springville.
Reports of tree down and on fire in Clay.

It's a severe thunderstorm warning and it goes until 445 p.m. It is for the Central Part of the County.
The strongest storms are north and east of the City of Tuscaloosa, although rain and thunder is over much of the county.
In St. Clair County, where a warning is in effect, activity extends from west of Ashville down to Odenville and Branchville. It is moving east and southeast. It is associated with very strong winds. Winds gusted to 55 mph at the Birmingham Airport as this system passed.
Another intense cell is north of Gainesville along the Tombigbee River. Watch out for that storm.
All of these pusle type storms will be able to produce strong gusty winds. It they build up a huge amount of precipitation in the atmosphere, it can crash to Earth and spread out in the form of a powerful microburst. That is waht was happening across the Birmingham matro area.
Otherwise, beneficial rains are occurring over a wide area. We are thankful for them.
