No Bath For Little Miss Molly

I am relived to know that we have decided NOT to give Little Miss Molly a bath today. Instead, we will wait until Monday when she already has an appointment with the vet to update her shots, grooming, and, of course, a bath. We will ask for a special shampoo that adds moisture to her dry skin.

She scratches very frequently because of her dry skin problem. We also started her on a special dog food yesterday that aids that problem.

One of our readers suggested goggles when we try to give her a bath. We are thinking raincoats!

The last time we "bathed" Molly, she suddenly came roaring up out of the bath water wiggling like an eel. She looked just like a missle being launched out of an underground silo. Her ears were laid back to help her aerodymatics. When she landed on the tile floor she shook from head to toe as a dog does when coming out of a swimming pool. We not only had to change clothes but we had to mop also!

Three cheers for her vet!

JUST WANTED TO LET JB KNOW THAT OUR BUSTER ALSO SUFFERS FROM LOTS OF ITCHY SKIN - A FRIEND RECOMMENDED THIS AND THE VET AGREED: GIVE THE DOG A BENADRYL EVERY DAY - IT HELPS WITH THE ALLERGIES AND ITCHING. WE GIVE HIM ONE EVERY NIGHT (25 MG) - HE WEIGHS A LITTLE OVER 20 LBS AND THE VET SAID THAT DOSE WAS CORRECT. USUALLY ABOUT 1 MG PER POUND, BUT A LITTLE OVER WAS OK. IT HAS DEFINITELY HELPED HIM. HOPE THIS HELPS.

As a DogMom for 29 years, can tell U that your groomer is your best friend when it comes to baths! Also, check with your vet re a colloidal oatmeal rub for dry skin..Miss Molly gets a maaarvelous massage and extra "play time" with Dad. Miss Molly stories are one of the highlights of my days..I'm so happy about the blog; now I can get my Molly fix 24-7.

A friend of mine just sent me this article about your Molly. She said your Molly resembles my Molly ever so much. I'm sad to say that I had to let my Molly go to doggie heaven on 12/18/04. She was 14 years old, and has battled chronic upper respitory infection for about 1 and half years now. I miss her terribly. My Molly like your Molly had many a bath time tale! I'd love to see a picture, if you have one.
Sincerely,
Melanie Smith
