NE Alabama Snow Reports

Ran by the home office quickly this afternoon to find gobs of snow reports from northeast Alabama... mostly light flurries, a few decent snow showers, and a few folks reporting the ground briefly white across the mountains of Cherokee, Calhoun, DeKalb, and Jackson counties. Just as expected...

Looks like our best chance of pre-Christmas snow comes Thursday on the back side of the departing storm as it rolls northeast away from us. Not a good way to get the ground white here, but not totally out of the question. Will have long discussion and new video ready tomorrow morning.

Headed back to Hunter Street for the "Cruisers" CD debut concert at the 24/7 building. Seems like there are some people who live, sleep, eat, and breathe weather this time of the year. I think that is way too weird... to those people I might suggest you re-visit your priorities! Take a break and spend some time with the people you love!

I agree James. We all may love commenting and watching models for snow chances but that should only be a hobby for anyone. It is your job and it is still not your whole life. Who knows, maybe the less those people watch for it and the more time we all spend enjoying the Christmas season we might get some snow as a gift from above!

Maybe the GFS is having a midrange forecast struggle and will shift back. If nothing else it will be cold for Christmas when in Alabama it is possible to have 60/70 in Christmas!!!

I will be honest with you, I was upset by James Spann's comments. I enjoy watching the weather and it is a fun part of winter. Watching and hoping for snow! Believe it or not, I have my priorities straight, but I also have hobbies I enjoy. The weather happens to be one of them. I am truly surprised that James Spann would make such comments, because it is us the viewers that make his ratings. I guess that is weird also. Maybe I just need to watch another weather forecast. I don't want to freak anyone out!

please do not be so sensitive. You have to understand, that is what he does all the time. What he is saying that his priorities are in order, and I can assure you of that and his job is not above his family. You can go elsewhere if you want, but you will not find a better weather team. I think maybe everyone shouldn't worry about everyone else's priorities. This is, after all, a weather blog. We're all here because of our probably somewhat higher than average interest in the subject. That said, I agree the 33/40 team is top notch and I greatly appreciate this site, the information provided and enjoy reading all the comments.

Hey! I love all of you weather guys...even when you tell us we might not get snow. I don't think James Spann was trying to be rude or anything. I just think he was trying to say that he has other things that he likes to do besides watch the weather. I personally love watching the weather, snow or no snow and I don't think that is weird either. I also love to do photography, read, write stories, and paint. So don't take every little comment by someone to heart.

First of all, I couldn't help but read the comments people wrote, I love it. It just means that there are more people than just me that have their priorities messed up. Anyway, I am not Mr. Sensitive, I do believe that weather is a small hobby. Isn't it all of yours? With that being said, isn't that why they have these blogs? I just thought his comments were in bad taste. I am not judging him as a weather man. I just didn't care for his comments. I know he has a life outside of work, we all do. This just happens to be part of my life outside of work. Anyway, Happy Holidays to everyone above, wasn't trying to insult James Span or anyone else at the news station.
