DENNIS,WE WILL FOREVER REMEMBER YOU!

You caused thousands of vacation plans to be change.

You caused the second largest evacuation in USA history. Only Hurricane Floyd caused more. You came ashore atmid-afternoon today causing a wind gust of 131 mph east of Pensacola.

Surely, there was major damage where you came ashore.

And, we are not through with you.

And those spinoff tornadoes. A Tornado Watch is in effect until 11 tonight for the south 2/3w of Alabama.

A Tornado Warning for Escambia County in extreme South Alabama. That is where the center of Dennis was just before 5 pm.

Heavy rain was spreading northward. At Weogufka, Coosa County, 1.68 inches of rain thyis afternoon including 0.35 in only seven minutes.

What is wrong with you people who complain about everything?
These people on 33/40 have been talking and working, with microbursts of sleep, for 24 hrs. or more. Could you do this and be as nice and understanding as they are? I expect not. Back off and give these people compliments instead of all this negativeness. They deserve better!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks, everyone at ABC 33/40, for all you do and are doing for the people of Alabama.

Joanne,
I haven't seen much negativity. Sorry, but don't know what you're talking about. Still, I agree with you that these guys at 3340 do commendable work! While I'm on satellite in east Alabama and can't get the station....my PC sure knows how to have a permanent shortcut to the ABC 33/40 weather pages. As far as I'm concerned, ABC3340 is the WEATHER AUTHORITY in Alabama....even parts of Alabama that can't pick up the broadcasts!
Keep up the good work, guys!
Marty

Hey guys... I'm living in TX now but am a native alabamian. No doubt... 33/40 is THE weather authority in AL. I read the site daily, just because I'm a weather junkie and even here in a huge market like DFW, 33/40 covers weather better than anyone... even those here who are supposedly "the best." They don't even hold a candle...

Janice and Craig...
Many thanks for your kind comments. Assure you that I appreciate them.

I was on unofficial"blog duty" today and did not think I did an adequate job. Had to split duties with long periods of wall-to-wall radio broadcasts
