My husband just called me on his cell and told me that as he was sitting at the intersection of Hwy 119 and US 280, a small tornado crossed over the intersection. Power lines and trees are down. He said it happened right in front of him, and was lucky he was on the "other" side of the path. Going towards Greystone in his opinion.

Heavy thunder and lightning here in Liberty Park...glad I have a laptop...

Be safe out there!

In Inverness, no apparent damage. High winds gave tree limbs quite a ride, reminiscent of Ivan's winds. I would say up to 2 inches of rain in about 30 minutes. Lots of lightning and thunder, but no damage in my immediate area. Might that "tornado" that was posted above have been a wet microburst??? NWS outlooked B'ham area in "high" outlook for wet microbursts today. I guess NWS will have to look at the damage to see.

Leigh, If this happened you need to call the NWS storm reporting line and give them this report. 1-800-856-0758. They need to know about what he saw.

Thanks. I'll give him this info when he gets home. He certainly doesn't need to be talking and driving in this weather. =)
