Strong storms continue at this hour from the Sylvan Springs area of western Jefferson County to a point eleven miles northeast of Downtown Tuscaloosa. The activity is moving west at 15 mph. It is accompanied by deadly lightning, potentially damaging winds, small hail and torrential rains.
Other strong storms are reported along the Jefferson/Walker County line.
Reports are filtering in from the severe thunderstorm that moved across southern Jefferson County and northern Shelby County. Trees and power lines were reported down at Highway 119 and US-280 by a viewer. A car was heavily damaged by a falling tree in the Cahaba Heights area. There were several reports of hail to nickel size, including the Brook Highland... Greystone... Helena and Homewood areas.
