The 12Z models are shifting the track of Rita even more to the right:

The threat is increasing for the upper Texas and western Louisiana Gulf coast. Stay tuned...

GFS, GFDL AND SUPER FSU MODEL SHOW A LOUISIANA LANDFALL. Also read an interesting discussion from NHC. It seems there is a ridge in North Atlantic that is going to keep the waves coming off coast of Africa in the latitudes for favorable genesis. In fact a fourth wave came off coast late last night.

I hope Mayor Nagin changes his mind about allowing the N.O. residents back in to parts of the city---- that would not be good.

Let's just hope that the models are wrong. Maybe it is just one of those left right left again. I am like James and not wishing this on anyone, but the coast doesn't need any more of this.

How fitting that Nagin is allowing people to return. He must NEVER watch any type of weather. He's at fault for the first fiasco....now this? What a clown.

As I understood it on Fox News this morning, it wouldn't take much for the levee system to fail again. The Army Corp of Engineers is working on the system, but they said all that it would take for another major flooding event to happen would be a few heavy thunderstorm downpours. I don't think we can pray enough for these folks from the coastal regions. They definitely don't need recovery efforts to be set back any further!

On the other hand, taking out a whole new section would be, IMHO, far worse than re-wiping the rebuilding efforts.

Like someone else said, I'd never wish this on anyone. I wonder how many people left New Orleans and went to Houston, Galveston, etc.
