I live in Huntington Place Subdivision up HWY 43N in Northport. I saw the tornado as I looked to the west. It was moving northeast towards Samantha. Awsome sight. Hope no one is hurt.

I just wanted to report that there is extensive damage in the Starkville area, mainly on the MSU campus. Huge trees have been uprooted, huge limbs have been torn off trees, and there is extensive roof damage to buildings around the chapel area. Right now, the center of campus looks like a disaster area with all the trees and limbs laying around everywhere. I have had reports of car windows also blown out just down the street from the chapel. We are looking for more storms down the line this afternoon.

Just west of B'ham, clouds race overhead while winds are relatively calm on the surface. Interesting...

there is no sense taking regular programing off the air. people have enough sense to know when the weather gets bad.

I think today is a perfect example of why 33/40 Should be interrupting programming, very rare to see storms striking the same place in a matter of minutes and following the same track, not to mention that tornado that was caught on the TowerCam...they do it for our safety not for any ratings..

TJ, How do you know if the weather is bad unless its being reported. You people that worry about regular tv over a tornadic event that could take your life just amaze me. But if your good enough to know when severe weather is occuring without someone telling you, then choose another one of the other hundreds of the other channels and watch them and leave the people who are trying to look out for you alone and stop complaining.

reckon i'll complain when ever i get ready to john t. I know for a fact i'm not the only one that thinks it is ridiculos to stay on the air that long for a few storms. you people are scared of your own shadows!

TJ, you might not be the only one but, you're definitely one of the minority. I saw the damage of a tornado that destroyed my friends house. The damage was unbelieveable and it was only an F2. If the weather team can interupt tv to save just one life then there is no question that it is worth it...... Your lack of sympathy will be dismissed as only ignorance and stupidity.
