A Very Frosty Alabama Morning

Big, big frost across the Alabama countryside this morning. In Havana Junction, we would say a "great big ole frost."

One of the biggest ones so far this season.

In fact, when I walked my little 9-pound dog this morning, the frost was so heavy in the grass that she took big arcing leaps (like a kangaroo) so she would not have her feet in the grass as often.

Also some dense fog in some valleys produced a bit of "black ice."

A sampling of low temperatures:

20 in Hamilton
21 in Pinson and Black Creek (NE Etowah County)
22 in Cordova (Union Chapel)
23 in Munford, Oak Grove, Alabaster
24 in Jasper, Talladega, Gaylesville
25 in Helena, Anniston Airport, Montgomery, Tuscaloosa, Centreville, Fayette, Livingston
26 in Huntsville, Ashville
27 at Birmingham Airport, Muscle Shoals, Alexander City, Inverness
28 at Cullman, Clanton, Shelby County Airport (NWS Office)
30 in Mobile, Selma, DeSoto State Park

Shhhh... we also dont need people posting, pretending they are someone else, especially the administrator of this blog.. that's worse than 'censorship', which this clearly is not.

You cant come to someone's blog and whine about censorship. It's their blog they can do what they like, no matter what happend. Just my opinion.

My pup won't hardly go out at all when it's wet out... especially in the mornings. He's not very fond of cold weather either. I still love him though.

Ok ,,,,, here we go ..

Lets se that qpf.....

Somewhere around maybe a quarter inch around here ... Not a lot of moisture comming thru with BOB ...

Here is the latest run of the GFS..12z run.. and here we are at 18 hours with bob..

http://www.nco.ncep.noaa.gov/pmb/nwprod/analysis/namer/gfs/12/ima
ges/gfs_slp_018s.gif

then as the day goes on sat... 06 am

http://www.nco.ncep.noaa.gov/pmb/nwprod/analysis/namer/gfs/12/ima
ges/gfs_slp_024s.gif

and by sat evening , we have the moisture spreading into the metro bham area

http://www.nco.ncep.noaa.gov/pmb/nwprod/analysis/namer/gfs/12/ima
ges/gfs_slp_036s.gif

now the most important critical thickness values.... , you can notice the 540 line up into tennessee.... lets look at the 850 mb chart and look at the projected temp at 5000 ft off the ground and you will see that the f4reezing line suts across the ne corner of the state, but surface teps should allow bob to move thru without any fuss..

Now lets got on to Hope....

Monday noght

_084.shtml

Tuesday morning
Look at the top right chart... we can see the split flow , and no phasing happening for home...so it looks like ..hope is actually becomming HO and PE becaseu our hope has been split....

http://www.nco.ncep.noaa.gov/pmb/nwprod/analysis/namer/gfs/12/fp0
_090.shtml

So part two of hope should be comming thru here in about a week...lets look at it..here is next friday... Look at both the 500mb Vort with the vort max over the gulf down below miss... and you can see the moisture on the MSLP 1000 - 500mb spreading up into here....

_168.shtml

so the screaming headline of the 12 z... as it has been for the passt couple of days is.......We have hope being split in two.... HO which will come thru here on mon tue... and PE the will be comming thru as christmas eve gets here......
Sorry camppers , but that how the ball bounces... Now lets see if James can pull it back around for us.... Dancers.. If there was ever a time to dance.... Now is that time.... Dave , put your chilli in the freezer....

Have fun and GOD BLESS
