56 below zero at Beaver, Fort Yukon and Chandalar Lake was the coldest in Alaska this morning. However, within the last 24 hours it has been as low as -60 at Chandalar Lake.
Of more interest, and almost as unusual was these high temperatures Friday:
51 in Green Bay
62 in Wichita
60 in Lincoln
58 in Des Moines and Sioux Falls
And one bit of great news:
Almost an inch (0.91) of rain in the last 24 hours at DFW (Dallas-Fort Worth) Airport. That sould bring a lot of relief to people fightning grass fires.
Please don't ask me why I am so fascinated by the severe arctic cold because I don't have the frostiest notion...

I would like to see what you wrote about the other day when temps get to -60F and the vapor turns into "ice dust". There is something very fascinating about those cold temps because it's a completely different world when it's that cold. Everything is different.
By the way, the Wasatch Front benches are expecting 5-10"+ this afternoon and tonight, on top of the 6" we received yesterday. If it actually happens, I'll send you a couple of snapshots.

Talked to our folks in Layton yesterday and they are threatening to bail out for a vacation in Hawaii.

Hawaii would be nice. I would love to visit some of the less populated islands, especially.
I read about that bbq y'all had today. I'm jealous. :-) That's one thing I really miss about Alabama...the barbeque!
