Evening Update

Once again I will be on our live stream on abc3340.com at 8:00 tonight to discuss ongoing weather and the weekend situation. It will also be on the "dot twos", our digital channels 33.2 and 40.2.

Some notes:

*I really think our best chance of getting the ground white this far south will come from snow showers during the day tomorrow. We actually might see those snow showers tomorrow night into Sunday morning.

*NWS continues a snow advisory for roughly the area along and north of U.S. 278, where some light accumulation is possible after midnight as the rain changes to show.

*Our new SKYCAM network station in Hamilton shows 42.2 degrees as I write this at 6:45 p.m.

*The snow will be tapering off in Memphis during the next few hours. Rain has changed to snow over much of Southeast Arkansas now, and it looks like snow will begin along U.S. 82 in Greenville and Greenwood, MS during the next couple of hours.

*The surface low is developing over the Louisiana coast:

http://www.spc.noaa.gov/exper/mesoanalysis/s1/pmsl.html

This low should move to a point near Mobile later tonight, and into Georgia tomorrow.

*This storm will bring heavy snow, and in some cases, blizzard conditions to major northeast cities like Washington, New York City, and Baltimore over the weekend. Amounts over one foot are very possible... much like our Blizzard of 1993.

Watch our live stream at 8:00 for more...

Kenny, Here in NE jefferson county I have noticed a 2 degree drop in temperature per hour over the past two hours..I know that has to do with the radiational colling from the dun going down and some evaporational cooling, but I am watching this very closely myself and will keep up with you throughout the night, well as long as I can... I am just finding that this low is developing a little slower thatn the earlier models predicted and a little farther south.. The rain band also is extending a little farther to the west than previously expected, do you not believe that this will increase the chances that we will se some accumulating snow around here... It seems that the heavier precip is further south.. than Bham, which leads me to believe that the low will track even further south than expected... I am now sitting at 42 degrees and a Dewpoint of 36 which means that the evaporational cooling willnot have much more effect on the temperature, but If that low stalls just a hair, we could be in for some real fun overnight.... zI go back and look at the 00z model from last night and it was showign the low being into west mississippi bu now at 1012 mb... It is already sown to 1010 mb and is down in southern Lousianna.... Right now I see the center of the low down around Batton Rouge at 1010 mb

I believe that the surface low will track along I10 over toward Mississippi and then turn NEand cross well below montgomery, which is further south than any of the other models... I am not an expert, not even an amature, just a junkie.... Whats your thoughts??

Rusty Pitts,

My predictions:
At my house I am at 42.0F and the dewpoint at: 35.6.
right now no snow will fall, the reason, the dewpoint and the temps are not below freezing. Most likely you already know this but. The dewpoint is starting to fall and has fallen about .5F in about 15 min, this means the temps will start to fall even more but at a more steady rate.
I do not know at this time if we will get any accumulating snow but I do believe that we will see some sort of winter precip early on saturday.
I an planning on staying up as much as possible tonight. and will look forward to relaying info to you and others! got to go and watch the live feed of the weather team now. Look at my current conditions at 8 PM CST!
