Great Smoky Mountain Snow

The entire region has a heavy blanket of snow this morning, including Gatlinburg.

And, they will be getting more snow today.

Check out these amounts this morning:

7 inches at Gatlinburg (at national park headquarters)
9 inches in Cades Cove
15 inches at Oconaluftee
32 inches atop 6400 foot Mt. LeConte

Can you imagine the beautiful scene in Cades Cove this morning with a 9 inch fresh snow cover? It is my favorite part of the park.

OK, Sorry this is not weather related, unless the cause of this problem is due to the weather. But how many of our regular bloggers and 3340 staff are suffering from the virus crud that is going around. I made it to work today for the first time since last tuesday and although I have been taking precsriptions Im only about 20% better.
Consider this a survey.
I currently know of about 6 people personally that have it.

No crud here yet...but...my boys (5, 2, and 34 respectively...LOL!!) enjoyed playing out in the snow shower that hit our house yesterday and covered the ground for awhile!! Woke up this morning to light cover on the ground, deck, etc. Pretty to look at even if it wasn't much!! Our kids had never seen snow and loved every minute of it!!

I feel bad for everybody who has this strain of the flu because I had it 2 months ago. Changing the subject does everybody feel like I do about being teased with the heavy snow shower we saw yesterday?

Nah, no teasing felt here. I enjoyed it, and I enjoyed it going away.

There's still a heavy dusting on the ground up here north of Eva, about 1/4 " I would say. The temperature has just now risen above freezing and is now up to 36.0, so it probably won't be around for too long, especially if the sky clears.

Just got back from Gatlinburg this afternoon. Where we stayed at, we had 6 1/2 inches as of 830am est. and it was still snowing heavily. I really didn't want to come home, but work calls. I'll put up some pics when i get a chance.
