LATE MORNING ALABAMA UPDATE--10:30 Report

Not much going on across Alabama late on this Friday morning.

Very little precipitation. However a 50-mile wide band of mostly light rain extended all the way across North Central Alabama from border to border. It was from Marion and North lamar County on the west side of the state over to Cherokee County on the east side.

Moving east.

Cold front at 10 am was very near Montgomery. Quite a range in 10 o'clock temperatures

57 in Montgomery
64 in Troy
70 in Evergreen
38 in Decatur and Muscle Shoals

Nearest freezing temperatures to Alabama were over NE Arkansas.

the NWS said possible ice north of a line from Sulligent, to Jasper, Locust Fork, Anniston, and Heflin. James drew a line a little farther north of that.

Accuweather.com says Snow will be mixed with sleet and freezing rain. 1-3 inches possible over central Alabama..... I dont believe them to be accurate, but is this a possibilty?

Marcy, I just checked accuweather, and they are calling for rain. Not even freezing rain. I also looked on their snow forecast map, and Alabama isn't in the picture. I am not trying to give you a hard time, but I was wondering, where you saw it on accuweather? Just so I could go and have a looksee myself. You know to get my snow hopes up...LOL.

Heather, I just checked it and they do have it changed for rain. I promise they said 1-3 inches of sleet/snow with freezing rain. I got all excited when I saw it. They undoubtably are not a good source for weather. Oh Well:( I've always said Spann is the man!
