Hueytown Hail

From one of our readers in Hueytown... nickel to dime sized hail in a freezer bag (collected during the early morning storm today):

We too received hail around 3am. We live 6 miles south of Parrish - called Pleasantfield (Walker County). It started out as marble sized and ended up around quarter-sized. It was coming down in buckets. Never saw so much hail or hail so large. But no broken glass.

One of the pictures of the Tornado damge pointed out the fact that a husband and wife had their clothes and jewelry sucked off them and were thrown 50 yds....Powerful storm....Curious to see how new Fujita Scale rates the ones in Tenn.

I live in Homewood, and I didn't get out of bed to check, but I swear I heard hail banging against my window this morning when the storms came through.

AndyN the new Fujita Scale or EF Scale does not go in effect until February 1st 2007. But yes I am very curious to see the survey reports.

James thinks that the main dynamics of this upcoming system may go to our north with a few strong storms over the northern part of AL late Friday but the NWS is saying severe wx. ??
