Severe Thunderstorm Watch for Extreme North Alabama

As Yogi Berra says, "It looks like deva vu all over again."

Almost exactly like yesterday...the Storm Prediction Center has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for five counties in extreme North Alabama...

Included in the watch area are:
DEKALB... JACKSON... LAUDERDALE... LIMESTONE... MADISON

The watch is valid until 10 p.m. CDT.

Thunderstorms are beginning to fire and are expected to intensify south of a stationary boundary over southern Tennessee. They will move east and southeast and may affect the extreme northern counties of the state. The biggest threat will be from large hail and damaging winds.

I hope we don't get what they had yesterday and last night east of us. I drove from Marion,SC to Ashville, NC to Greenville, SC to Atlanta,GA (I-40 to I-26 to I-85 to I-20)and finally home in from heavy rain to intermittent rain and continueous lighting. I mean it was constantly lighting up the sky! However, it did make for a beautiful light show to watch as I drove on thru the night! It didn't let up till just east of Atlanta, BTW the time to go thru Atlanta is 2 in the morning! I breezed thru, it was great!

Hubby did the "Assault on Mt. Mitchell" road bike (like Lance Arnstrong) Sat. it's 102 miles from Spartanburg,SC to the top of Mt. Mitchell, NC.

I really am tired of rain, and lighting though!

I've driven up the last few miles from the parkway to Mt. Mitchell summit a bunch of times.
I figure I could peddle it in three, four weeks ... not counting time on a respirator, of course.

The most I've ever done is 50 miles in the "Hotter'n'Hell Hundred" in Wichita Falls, TX. Although very hot in late August, it's all flat to rolling hills. I can't even begin to imagine riding up Mt Mitchell when fresh, much less after riding 90+ miles already.

You need to ride the Hot 100 in Tuscaloosa in August. Goes into Greene Co. We escort it...It's a lot of fun. Last year it was the hottest day of the year....102 degrees
