Early Look at the Afternoon Forecast Package

It looks like we might be in for a pattern of increasing showers as we head into the early part of the coming week as the trough of low pressure in the upper levels of the atmosphere moves eastward.

For today though, the highest concentration of showers and storms will be over West Alabama, west of I-65. A few scattered showers and storms are possible elsewhere, but rain chances will be small.

Areas that get under a good storm may get a good soaking today, which would not be a bad thing over West Alabama.

Don't worry about that as you head out to City Stages this afternoon or tonight. Skies should be partly cloudy and it will be warm and muggy, with highs topping out around 90 or just above. The chance of a shower or storm will be less than 1 in 3. Any showers that do form will die out quickly this evening with partly cloudy and muggy conditions througn the overnight.

Tomorrow, it looks like the rain chances will be just a bit less, with the trough slowly weakening. It should be partly cloudy and warm again with scattered showers and storms.

Monday looks like it will be wetter as the trough begins to progress eastward. The coverage of showers and storms will be on the increase and maybe we will get a couple of days of rainfall Monday and Tuesday. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

The rainfall will shift further south into Central Alabama on Wednesday, with coverage diminishing over North Alabama through Friday.

Scattered showers and storms will be in the forecast for next weekend with temperatures near to slightly above normal.
