Showers Entering Our Picture--1 o'clock Report

We are still on track for our best chance of showers and thunderstorms in quite some time.

At 1 o'clock this afternoon, moderate to heavy showers over South Tennessee had developed southward into Extreme North Alabama. Especially from Huntsville westward to Florence and down into Colbert and North Franklin County.

The rain-cooled temperature was only 73 in Muscle Shoals early this afternoon.

Showers and thunderstorms were increasing across Mississippi.

Lighter showers were over Central Hale County in West Central Alabama.

Everything moving west to east.

I have been watching the radar this morning, and saw several showers moving east towards Bham, then I came back from lunch and POOF, they were all gone?!?!?! Is today's forecasted rain suppose to "move into the area" or would you say they are going to "develop over the area"???

Im bored today. :|

I was wondering the same thing. It appears that the Pinpoint Doppler Radar is not working. What JB is talking about is reflected on the NEXRAD.

Dave...
Some of both. Some storms will develop in the area while others move in from the west.

Don't want you to be bored!

Hey JB:

Ocean Springs MS is finally enjoying some rain. VERY dark skies here at the moment, with thunder to the north of the city near I-10.

Scott...
That is great news for you since you are in such an extremely dry area.

Sure glad for you...

I think 33/40's radar is offline. The NEXrad shows showers mostly in N. Alabama and has most of the morning. I know we got rained on coming back from the lake last night and it rained for a while at my apartment but we could definitely use more rain. Hopefully it will keep heading south!
