UPDATE---3:30 pm Saturday

A few short notes...

.....Heading out to drive down to ABC 33/40 to get started on a 24-hour no-sleep marathon. Had to get used to those during 40+ years of weather work. It comes with the territory. Will do some more posting from there.

.....Still nothing going on in North Alabama, including the Birmingham Metro area...thunderstorms down over south and SW Alabama working their way north.

.....Still our greatest danger in this area is tonight and Sunday. Line of viscious thunderstorms will move eastward from Louisiana and Mississippi tonight increasing our potential for possible tornadoes. Timing is difficult but it could be late tonight for B'ham area, maybe even after midnight. However, other storms before then may give problems.

.....early morning hours Easter Sunday will probably be dangerous also, then calming down somewhat by mid morning, only to have more severe thunderstorms and possible tornadoes Sunday afternoon.

......Should caution that this time line could get out of phase.

.....Tornado watch continues for South 1/3 of Alabama until 9 tonight. It is described as a particularly dangerous situation.

......headed out...hope there are no speeders on 459.

This is what you meteorologists live for isn't it? Good luck, and God Bless, Mr. Elliot. Will you be doing radio broadcasts?

Good luck J.B. and I'll be prayin for you. Currently in Northport (Tuscaloosa County): in the lower 80's and partially cloudy; I observed that from this morning that clouds have generally gotten more collective and darker in coloration suggesting more storred moisture; a strong, humid westerly wind was blowing as I stepped out a minute ago and seems like its getting more cloudy as time goes on. Well see and I'm keepin an eye on the sky for you guys here in Northport. Will post later as storms begin to develope closer to home.

I always thought that I lived in North Alabama, but according to the hazardous outlook, I am in Central Alabama. I am in the most southern part of Etowah County. I prefer the outlook for central Alabama over the one for northern Alabama, but I fear that it's not that cut and dried. I *hate* going into my basement as it used to be a home for every pregnant possum from miles around. We've blocked their entrance now, but ocassionally, I can hear what sounds like a cat in the basement, so I don't know if they'll be down there or not. Once, during a tornado warning...during the latter part, I went to a window on the other side and unknowingly stepped right over an adolescent possum (not a baby and not an adult). I didn't see it until I had turned away from the window and started back to the side I like to stay on.

Our hospital close by has an underground big basement, but it's mainly for the technical workers. But, if I go there, the waiting room TV will be on some movie or show and I won't know what is going on. Last time, (my husband works there) I found an empty room and turned on the TV.

I'm am praying that this won't be a bad two days.

Carol

Hello J.B.
Just wanted to wish you more luck than you had during our last severe weather episode when you visited us here in Tuscaloosa.
Seemed like you scared that one out of town! It had kind of fizzled out on you when you got here.
But that's a good thing I guess, of course that is if your not out on the road looking for action as you were.
But I've got a feeling this system is gonna make up for it, so do be careful if your looking for action tonight.

Best wishes and keep up the good work,

Another weather nut,

JB in T-Town

I hereby announce I am praying for Carol, who posted above that she is worried about having to go to her basement ever since possums had invaded her home. Carol, may severe weather avoid your area completely, no kidding.

Clay...
Yes, I will be doing upates all night on 98.7 KISS-FM, 95.7 JAMZ and WAGG AM 610. If atornado warning is issued for Jefferson or surrounding counties, we go into continuous coverage--so called "wall to-wall" coverage

Its me again. I am a nervous wreck. I am hunkered down in an old fallout shelter at work. I am worried about my goats back at the house. No one is there to round them up. Do you think they will be ok? Or should I leave work now and go home? Just how bad will it get here in Anniston?

Ron, I really nope your kidding. The weather hasn't reached your area yet! If you are not kidding, I sincerely appologize. My advice would be to go home, round up your goats, make sure your family is ready for the storms by going over a severe weather plan, and then stay tuned to abc 33/40 for frequent weather updates. Just stay calm and youll be okay. Ill be praying for you James and the crew and ill keep an eye on the sky here in T-Town.

Hey, everyone! I'm new to the post, but I've been checking it out the last few days and I finally decided to post. You guys, I am scared! I'm here in Birmingham, but I had planned on going back to school tomorrow (Jacksonville State). Think I will stay at home though. Did anyone notice that up under the forecast for Sunday it says that we are under a 'high risk' for severe weather? I was wondering if the SPC had upgraded us to a high risk, or or we still under a moderate? Please let me know! Either way, I will keep the ABC 33/40 team and the rest of you in my prayers. God bless and be safe, please!!
