Ernesto at 8 pm

He is still fooling around inland over eastern Cuba.

In fact he has been moving toward the WNW instead of NW

Barely a tropical storm with sustained winds of 40 mph

PERSONAL OPINION: He may be a little below tropical storm strength. NHC is holding onto 40 mph, however.

They still expect him to move NW off the Cuban north coast tonight and start growing again.

(Scan down to some earlier posts for a lot more detail. The track forecast has changed little since the last posting.)

Yeah, I agree with you JB. That hardly looks like a tropical storm. Forgive me for being cynical but it appears to me that TPC is basically embarrassed that their doomsday scenario that they originally painted for Ernesto (seems to be) completely falling apart. Of course, expect the unexpected. However, I'm pretty sure the collapse of Ernesto was pretty unexpected.

I've been studying advisories/discussions from TPC for quite some time. I think some of their decisions are "curious". Maybe we can all discuss this on the blog one day.

I think it's a combination of being in one job too long and ego.
