Looks fake to me. The reflections in the water does not match whats in the sky.

Well, it's certainly not fake. That's not water...it's the bottom of the clouds. I would be shocked if it matched.

This is a long-exposure shot...about 6 seconds. All you do is point your camera towards the storm, set the shutter to "bulb" and start snapping. As soon as you see a strike, you release the shutter.
