Alabama Counties in Tornado Watch

Tornado Watch continues until 7 o'clock this evening for 31 of Alabama's 67 counties. All of the counties are over the central and south--actually about the south half. Here is a list:

Autauga, Baldwin, Barbour, Bullock, Butler, Chilton, Choctaw, Clarke, Coffee, Conecuh, Covington, Crenshaw, Dale, Dallas, Elmore, Escambia, Geneva, Greene, Hale, Lowdnes, Macon, Marengo, Mobile, Monroe, Montgomery, Pike, Perry, Russell, Sumter, Washington and Wilcox.

The severe weather situation in Central Mississippi has been very serious today including several strong and long-track tornadoes. Scan down and see the posts by Jason Simpson and James Spann for more information on those.

The Storm Prediction Center has the entire state of Alabama under a severe weather risk this afternoon and tonight. For most areas it is a slight risk. However, a moderate risk continues for about the south half of Mississippi and the SW part of Alabama.

A Flash Flood Watch also continues for most of the state. Here in Central Alabama, there is still a chance that we could receive 1 to 3 inches of rain later today, overnight, and into Thursday.

Looks like the storms in MS are refiring, Does this mean we will get more later on? Or fall apart.

Heather,

Currently, the tornadic storm is heading to Moundville, moving towards you there. You may want to alert your co-workers, but there is not a formal warning yet.

Heather,

It's headed toward Moundville, North of Duncanville. Making a bee line for Coaling. James is saying that it's going south of the city of Tuscaloosa.

I work downtown, but my husband is at home (we live in a mobile home) on Hwy 82 E. (towards duncanville) he worked last night so he was asleep, I just called and woke him up and told him to either go to my grandmothers or to my dads, but my dad lives down 69 South and my grandmother lives about 1/4 mile from us so it will be safer for him to go there.
Thanks

James said it could be effecting the B'ham metro area (if it stays together) within an hour or hour and half.

Weakening storm. Not nearly as strong as it was when it first came into the picture. About to move into the Vance area, then onto I-20/59. Western Jefferson Co. could soon be put under a tornado warning.

Do They Think The Storms Could Be Able To Go Up Into Northern Alabama Like Etowah? And Be Severe?

Tyler, I'm late getting this information, but I believe all of Alabama has a slight severe risk and the more south you go the more risk of severe weather. It's raining, thunder and lightning in RBC now, but nothing severe going on and nothing severe headed our way, right now.

As a Youth Minister I am encouraging all church staff's to keep an eye on these dangerous storms coming out of Mississippi. Especially churches in the warm sector where conditions are unstable. I am going to keep someone in the church office tonight near a weather radio.
