9:15 pm Notes

The Severe Thunderstorm Watch that was in effect for a huge part of North and Central Alabama expired at 9 pm. A new Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until 1 am for parts of East and South Alabama. The Birmingham Metro Area is not included.

Most of the stronger storms have shifted into East Central and South Alabama.

So is that it? Wasn't there supposed to be a "squall line" that passed through this evening?

Bill, you sound disappointed. You should have been here at my house earlier. It was raining, hailing, thunder and lightning...very loud stuff. Woke me up from a sound nap. We'll have more storms another day. This is Alabama, right? <smile>

it barely thundered in birmingham today. i think that moderate risk was placed too far north. lots of weather south. not much here.

I think it was a good call on the moderate risk, although you might expect more tornadoes with the placement of the moderate risk. We had three severe thunderstorm warnings and one tornado warning here in Cherokee County(AL) alone. Lots of warnings in southern Tennessee with some wind damage and lots of reports of hail covering the ground. In my opinion it was far enough north
