ohmigosh..complete devastation. I hope nothing happens like that here. there has to be fatalites there.
Reminds me of the ’98 F5′ damage in Oak Grove & Rock Creek.
Those warnings seem to be moving pretty well east from where that damage occured. Any idea of whether or not this thing will weaken/strengthen by the time it gets to western central Alabama? Or are we looking at about the same type of situation?
Clearing line to the West of Tuscaloosa. I can see the sunset. Wind and dewpoint are increasing.

That bottom picture is Freds, which used to be Wal-Mart. As you can see the entire south end of the store is gone. The Mad Butcher grocery store is/was just 75 yards right of there. Notice the piece of tin in the left front corner of the picture. McDonalds is just 50 yards to the left of that.
Up until about 20 mins ago, the winds went almost calm for about an hour it seems. I know that sounds odd but I really think I had a time of calm winds here in Vance near the Mercedes plant. The winds are picking up again, and something else to note……earlier the breeze had kind of a cool feel to it, but now I can feel a sharp change to a warmer breeze. Something brewing?
It’s brewing alright. That line coming into Miss looks mean.
There was a windstorm in Dallas earlier. It was strong enough to close DFW Airport. My husband’s flight was canceled from Las Vegas. Please keep him in your prayers, he will be flying in on SW airlines from Phoneix to BHM at 11:40 pm tonight.
My nerves are shot.
Wind really picking up its sustained gust in Hamilton…Temp..68..Baro..29.58….PEAK GUST…39 mph
Dewpoint in Tuscaloosa ( SouthWest ) is at 49.6 and rising fast. Donnie, the wind was calm here too for a few minutes then BAM! they came back and are warmer. That is the Warm front making it’s way NorthEast.
Oh Stephanie, I am so sorry sweetie, I know you must be worried. Y’all will be in my prayers. I’m sure it will be fine though.
Sounds like trouble brewing Andy…..winds are nothing here in Vance like they were earlier……kinda eerie feeling outside
I also noticed the winds calm down a bit here in Fayette County, but now they are back up and going strong.
The dewpoint in Bham is still 39. Hope against hope the storms die down a bit before coming in AL. Although, it looks the farther west you are the better the the higher the dewpoints and thus the higher the chances of some severe stuff. Everyone be safe and keep those families that do have damage and lost love ones in your thoughts and prayers!
Winds have also calmed tremendously here in Randoph Co., Roanoke area. It is so strange, an hour ago the wind was getting rough, now nothing, not even a calm breeze. Time to start downing coffee!
Just stepped out on the porch. I can see stars back to the West. Farther West towards Pickens Co. I can see clouds coming.
Towards the west (Tuscaloosa) I can see the reminents of the sunset we had earlier. Winds are not even consistent. Blowing one min, then calm for a few, and then it picks back up. Strange stuff!!! Hope this realy isnt the “calm” before the storm. Everyone stay safe

ALL EYES HERE FOCUSED ON DEWPOINTS. SEEING SURGE OF MOISTURE COMING
UP INTO CENTRAL MS NOW. EXPECTING MOISTURE TONGUE TO SLIDE
EASTWARD…MAYBE NOT AS FAR NORTH…AS ENTIRE UPPER SYSTEM BEGINS TO
LIFT. OF COURSE ALL OTHER DYNAMICS WILL BE IN PLAY. JUST TO SPOUT
SOME EYE POPPING EXPECTED NUMBERS…800+ 0-3 KM HELICITY VALUES…
4 TO 5 0-3 KM EHI…50 KT WINDS AT AROUND 1500 FT. OVERALL THE
QUESTION REMAINS HOW FAR NORTH AND EAST WILL WE BE CAPPED? THE NEXT
QUESTION WILL BE…IS THERE ENOUGH FRONTAL FORCING TO OVERCOME THE
CAP? (MORE THAN LIKELY) THERE IS NO DOUBT THAT EVERYTHING ON THE
SCOPE TONIGHT WILL BE SPINNING. THAT DRAWS THE QUESTION…WITH
DEWPOINTS IN MIND…SURFACE BASED VS. ELEVATED. THAT WILL BE HARD TO
DISCERN TONIGHT. ANOTHER QUESTION IS…WILL THERE BE TOO MUCH SHEAR
ALOFT TO LOP-OFF TOPS…LIMITING GROWTH AND TORNADO THREAT?
(POSSIBLY) EVEN IF…DAMAGING STRAIGHT-LINE WINDS ARE STILL ON THE
TABLE. SOUNDS LIKE I HAVE MORE QUESTIONS THAN ANSWERS. TIMING STILL
LOOKS GOOD ON THE LINE. THIS BROKEN SQUALL LINE SHOULD SHOOT ON
THROUGH. THINGS TO LOOK FOR…ESPECIALLY THE FURTHER SOUTH YOU
GO…ARE TRAINING SUPERCELLS. IF THE NORTHERN PORTION LINE LAYS OVER
(SW/NE ORIENTATION) AREAS COULD SEE A COUPLE OF ROUNDS IN A SHORT
TIME.
I have a very good friend in Camden (just SW of Dumas) that works for Entergy and is probably there working now. Doesnt look good….
